Job Duties :
• Meets with students in a confidential manner, to address their behavioral concerns, and help them identify strategies to achieve academic success
• Provides outreach and counseling proactively to students who connect with the office via walk-ins, referrals, emails or other communication channels
• Conducts a basic assessment of all student cases and refer complicated matters to the Senior Student Counselor, as needed.
• Collaborates with the Senior Student Counselor, other Student Affairs representatives, and faculty and staff, to explore and execute programs
• and activities for students, to boost their educational awareness and behavioral growth, as well as address their evolving and varied needs
• Responds to crisis-related situations involving students around issues of health and safety and behavioral conduct per the university’s emergency protocols.
Requirements :
• Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, counselling or a related field
• 2-3 years in an educational setting; counselling experience preferred
• Working knowledge of common psychological disorders
• Strong multicultural competencies and experience working with international students and a diverse student body
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
• Understanding of cultural norms and practices within the UAE
• English required; Arabic is preferred.
